Breezes Bahamas Resort and Spa – Review
Breezes is a 371 room all-inclusive resort located next to Baha Mar in Nassau Bahamas. Located directly on East Beach, a wide stretch of powdery white sand beach overlooking calm Caribbean blue waters. As they say, “When you start with the best beach in Nassau”, everything else falls into place.
Breezes Resort and Spa Bahamas
Breezes offers a very comfortable Caribbean open-air feeling. As you enter the lobby, you can look straight through to the sea. The first thing that caught my attention was the attitude of the staff. Everyone from the bellman to the front desk staff greeted us with a big welcoming smile. Once you pass through the lobby entrance, you pass the fully equipped fitness center, game area with multiple pool tables. Straight ahead is the lobby bar and small stage that offers nightly entertainment.
Pools
The pool is fun and active. The animation team keeps the action rolling with games and contests. The pool bar is the main source for beverages during the day. Either walk up or swim up from the pool. The bartenders will great you with a smile and a large selection of Caribbean cocktails. Located poolside is the Reggae Café beach grill which is open from 11:30am – 5pm. The grill provides a nice selection of salads and grilled items including Caribbean staples of conch fritters and jerk chicken. I had both and they were great. Other items include burgers, salads and fish and chips.
Amazing Beach
The Beach at Breezes is where the resort really shines. I have traveled throughout Mexico and the Caribbean and few resorts have a beach this wide. No fighting for space here, there is ample room to spread out and take in the warm Bahamian sunshine. Located right next to Baha Mar, it is humorous to see vacationers who paid twice the price crammed into a beach half the size of what Breezes offers. The resort has a full selection of kayaks, stand up paddle boards and catamarans at your disposal. Down the beach jet skis are available to rent.
Restaurants and Bars
The Banana Boat is a larger airconditioned buffet style restaurant. The food selections are varied and wide. We enjoyed dinner and breakfast at the Banana Boat. The night we dined was Bahamian night featuring local specialties. The jerk pork was amazing. There was a large salad bar, pasta bar and additional seafood and meat options. Both sides of the restaurant are flanked by large soda and coffee stations which are accessible 24 hours a day. The restaurant offers breakfast from 7:30-10am, Lunch 12:30pm -2:30pm and dinner from 6:30pm-10:00pm. The buffet also opens at midnight for late night munchies.
Reggae Cafe
During the day, the Reggae Cafe was my destination for meals and snacks. They say good things come in small packages. This little grill cranks out some really amazing food. Several salad choices, burgers, chicken tenders, and amazing jerk chicken. The greek salad topped with jerk chicken was amazing. The snack bar is Open Daily 11:30am-5:30pm.
While we ate all of our meals at the Banana Boat and Reggae Cafe. The resort does offer several ala carte choices as well. During certain times of the year, these restaurants are restricted and at least one member of your dining party must be 25 years of age or older.
The Eden (indoor) and Garden of Eden (outdoor) provides guests two different dining ambiances. The menu is varied. I was told, Adam’s Rib is the house specialty.
Munasan is a newer addition offering Asian-fusion cuisine. The restaurant offers both table and booth seating and a full bar.
Bars
Drinks flow freely from 10:00am – 2:am. The Sip and Dip Pool Bar is your primary oasis during the day. With service from both the pool deck and from the swim up bar. The offers a full menu of frozen cocktails and a variety of domestic and premium brands. The bartenders were always smiling and happy to bring us our next drink.
If you are looking to take a break from the pool and beach. The lobby bar is available with seating over looking the pool and beach. At night there is entertainment and this is a great place to start your evening or stop in for a post casino cocktail.
The Disco Bar cranks music from 11:30pm – 2:00am. We enjoy some time in the Piano Bar. I can not say anyone in the crowd stood out as the next great voice. However everyone sung energetically and we enjoyed a fun evening. The Piano Bar is also restricted to 25 and older during certain times of the year.
Breezes Bahamas Rooms
Rooms are separated into two room towers, the eight-story West Wing and the four-story East Wing. All rooms are similar in décor and amenities. The main difference being one king size bed or two queens. The décor is Caribbean, feature mahogany furniture and floral colors. The Garden View rooms are located on the bottom floors and open directly to a patio with hammock overlooking the garden. Across the hall are the Pool View rooms which face the pool and have similar patios with hammocks. Rooms on the higher levels are considered Ocean View. All rooms are within a minute walk of the pool or beach. The bathrooms offer modern fixtures and large walk in showers. Amenities include hair dryers, shampoo.
Baha Mar Casino
BahaMar is located right next door and offers Nassau’s top-rated Casino featuring slots, blackjack roulette, craps and a variety of Caribbean games. Late night Thursday – Sunday and during special events, Bond night club comes to life featuring top local and international DJ’s. Recent events have featured Nelly, Lil Jon and DJ Pauly D. From Breezes lobby, Bond and Bahama Mar are a short 5 minute walk away.
Good to Know
The resort provides free wifi throughout and the signal is good. I can not emphasis how nice the beach is. No crowding or fighting for space. The water is calm and warm. The one thing that stood out was everyone was happy. Guests and employees a like. Some physical areas could be nicer. However I would rather be in a fun and happy environment with great energy.
During March the entire resort is dedicated to Spring Break. STSTravel has the exclusive on packages during that time and you must book directly through them. June is high school graduation time and this is a popular resort for them as well. The hotel attempts to keep them busy on East Beach and they do not have access to the ala carte restaurants or Piano Bar.
